PURSE INCREASE FOR NASCAR LATE MODEL STOCK DRIVERS
* 23-Race Schedule Announced
CONCORD, N.C. – Concord Motorsport Park has elevated the NASCAR late model
stock division to the premier class of cars for the 2006 racing season. With
that is an increase in the weekly prize money the drivers will be competing
for.
Racers will compete in weekly 100-lap races with the winner grabbing a top
prize of $1,500, up from $1,200 last season. At the other end of the spectrum
the money for drivers finishing at the back of the field has increased from
$100 to $150. In total, the 2006 late model stock purse has been increased
from $5,735 to $6,800 based on a 24-car starting field.
In addition, on eight Saturday nights the feature races will be extended to
150 lap races with the winner grabbing the $2,000 top prize. A total of
$7,550 will be paid out on these eight special events.
The season kicks off with the first 150-lap feature on Saturday, April 1.
Joining the late model stock division weekly will be the limited late models
(35-lap features), pure stocks (25-lap features) and fast & furious fours
(15-lap features). Racing continues Saturday nights into the fall.
