BO KNOWS CONCORD – FOUST WINS SEASON OPENER
CONCORD, N.C. – Bo Foust, of Charlotte, won the 150-lap NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock feature on Freedom Chevrolet-Cadillac Opening Night at Concord Motorsport Park.

Other winners were: Brian Conforth of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson’s Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Alton Boyd of Kannapolis in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers pure stock feature; and Chris Cooper of Charlotte in the 15-lap fast and furious four feature.

Foust started in the second spot and jumped into the early lead at the start of the late model stock feature. He held a comfortable advantage throughout the first half of the raced while Shane Brafford of Concord raced forward from sixth to second. The second half of the race was a different story for Foust as Brafford challenged for the lead many times. Foust was up for it each time and the runner up in points from last season earned the victory. It was his fifth career win at the speedway.
Brafford finished second with Davin Scites of Mooresville third. Chuck Crump of Star was fourth and Bryan “Dude” Thomas of Monroe completed the top five.

Conforth jumped from the second starting spot into the lead at the drop of the green in the limited late model feature. The Florida native made it look easy scoring his third career track victory. Kenneth Cook of Concord finished second with defending champion Terry Hoggard, also of Concord, third. Robbie Wells of Stanfield had a successful return to Concord finishing fourth with Brian Pedrick of Denver fifth. Boyd, a 29-time winner in a variety of divisions at the speedway, returned
after a few year absence to win the limited late model feature. He took the lead from Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant on lap 10 and fended off a strong challenge throughout the race from Allmon to earn the victory. Allmon finished second with Steve Irvin of Concord third. Completing the top five were Rev. Buddy Compton of Mooresville and Junior Cress of Concord.

Cooper, driving the “Firefly” theme-car, took the lead on lap eight of the fast and furious fours feature when the lead duo of Jason Winne of Locust and Stephen Clippard of Lenoir crashed. Cooper scored the emotional first win of his career. Winne and Clippard raced back through the field to finish second and third. Saturday night the drivers of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series return to the speedway for another great night of racing excitement. The late model stock drivers will headline with a 100-lap feature with limited late models, pure stocks and the fast and furious fours also in action. The Virginia mini cup cars
