SCITES MAKES IT FOUR WINNERS IN FOUR RACES AT CONCORD

CONCORD, N.C. – Davin Scites, the Wayne, W.V. native now living in Mooresville, won Saturday’s 150-lap NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock feature at Concord Motorsport Park. His win on Tommy Johnson’s Motorsports Warehouse night makes him the fourth different winner in four late model stock races this season.

Other winners were: Brian Pedrick of Denver in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson’s Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature, also the fourth different winner in four races; Steve Irvin of Concord in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers pure stock feature; and Chad Johnson of Concord in the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing fast and furious fours feature.

Andrew Thomas of Monroe jumped from the pole position into the early lead in the late model stock feature. The popular driver, looking for his career-first win, set a blistering pace early with hopes of making it his big night. During the second-half of the race Scites started to move in and challenge for the top spot. On lap 115 the lead duo had to split lapped raffic in turn three and Scites emerged with the lead. Scites scored his second late model stock win and third-career Concord victory as he also won the 2003 ASA (American Speed Association) race at the track. Point leader Shane Brafford of Concord finished second with Thomas third. Terry Brooks Jr. of Concord was fourth and Chuck Crump of Star fifth.

Kenny Brooks of Concord took the early lead in the limited late model feature before being overtaken by opening night race winner Brian Conforth, also of Concord. Conforth ran in the top spot with Pedrick moving to second and chasing throughout. A lap-30 crash in the backstretch dogleg collected Conforth; and Pendrick took the top spot rolling to his fifth career triumph at the track. Defending champion Terry Hoggard of Concord was second with Monroe’s Jeff Melton third. Mike Terry of Charlotte and Brooks completed the top five.

Defending pure stock champion Brian Love of Mt. Pleasant led the first 18 laps of the pure stock feature before his engine failed. That gave the lead and eventual win to Irvin, his first of the season. Chad Allmon of Concord and Alton Boyd of Kannapolis finished second and third.

Johnson took the lead on lap five of the fast and furious fours feature and scored his first win of the season. Ben Smith of Harrisburg and Brad Ballard of Kannapolis completed the top three.
