CHUCK CRUMP GETS CONCORD WIN

CONCORD, N.C. – Chuck Crump of Star, the 1996 mini stock track champion, won the 50-lap Town and Country Ford late model stock feature Saturday night at Concord Motorsport Park.

Other winners on USG Sheetrock Night were: Mike Terry of Charlotte in the 40-lap JRD Earthworks limited late model feature; Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant in the 30-lap Coca Cola pure stock feature; Tracy Mullis of Monroe in the 20-lap fast and furious fours feature; and Shaun Mangum of Monroe in the 25-lap Redneck Racers event.

Crump has been knocking on the door early this season with three second-place finishes in the four races held so far. His other finish was a fourth-place run. On Saturday he scored his seventh career win at the track, and third in a late model stock, with the victory over opening night winner Jeff Melton of Concord. Shaun Mangum of Monroe, Shane Brafford of Concord and Bo Foust of Greensboro completed the top five.

Terry won twice last year in the limited late model racing and scored his first 2007 triumph Saturday. Bobby Measmer Jr. and Terry Hoggard, both of Concord, finished second and third. Jay Payne of Thomasville was fourth with Kenneth Cook of Concord fifth.

Allmon won his third of the season and 11th-career victory in the pure stock ranks. David Miller of Troutman and Ben Smith of Harrisburg finished second and third.

Mullis won his second straight in the fast and furious fours division. It was the fourth win of his career at the speedway. Bradley Kimrey of Norwood finished second with Jeremy Whitman third.

Mangum, the 2003 late model track champion, earned his second-career win in the Redneck Racers division at the track. His career win tally is now at 27. Jim Cook of Kannapolis and Jeremy Troiano of Concord completed the top three.

Saturday is Town and Country Ford Night with the headlining late model stocks racing for 125 laps. The sleek and popular thunder roadsters are also on the docket.
