FREDDIE QUERY ROLLS TO 84TH CAREER CONCORD WIN

CONCORD, N.C. (May 29, 2005) - Freddie Query of Mooresville drove his A-1 Fire Protection Services Chevrolet to the 125-lap Future Cellular Big-10 Series super late model win on Troutman Motors Night at the Races Saturday. It was his 84th-career victory at the speedway. Also, Monroe's Shaun Mangum used a last lap pass to win the 50-lap NASCAR Coca-Cola Cup late model stock feature.

Other winners were: Terry Hoggard of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kenny Brooks of Concord in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature; Steve Irvin of Concord in the 20-lap New Star Environmental pure stock feature and Bobby Measmer Jr., also of Concord, won the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing hornets feature.

Query won the pole during qualifying and drew the second-starting spot for the feature competition. It didn't take the defending champion long to establish himself at the top of the field as he blasted into the early lead. On an early race restart Preston Peltier of Concord challenged Query but was denied.

Query showed his old-form rolling to his first win of the season. Jimmy Simpson of Concord earned his best result of the year with a second-place finish. Jeremy Pate of Pensacola, Fla. was third, point leader Dennis Schoenfeld of Concord was fourth and Ted Musgrave Jr. of Mooresville fifth.

Point leader Travis Sharpe of Swansea, S.C. and Roger Lee Netwon of Concord swapped the early lead in the late model stock feature before Sharpe secured the top spot. Mangum started sixth and quickly worked forward to second spot.

For the entire distance Mangum challenged for the win and on the final circuit the cars touched in turn one with Sharpe sliding up the race track. Mangum raced inside to the lead and victory. Sharpe finished second with Bo Foust
of Charlotte third. Todd Bradburry of Concord finished fourth with Buster Bennet of Monroe fifth.

Jimmy Voyles of China Grove jumped from the pole position to the early lead in the limited late model feature. He led three circuits before third-starting Terry Hoggard raced past into the top spot. He scored his second victory of the season. Randy McAnulty of Concord finished second with Daryle Callahan of Monroe third. Voyles and Kenneth Cook of Concord completed the top five.

Clint Mills of Marshville led the first lap in the mini stock feature before Brooks passed for the lead. Brooks went on to his third win of the season. David Pennell of China Grove finished second with Mills third. Jamie Long of Monroe and Doug Lamp of Troutman completed the top five.

Irvin scored his second win of the season dominating the pure stock feature. Mt. Pleasant drivers Chad Allmon and Brian Love finished second and third. David Miller of Stanfield was fourth with Steve Ackerly of Monroe fifth.

Measmer Jr. started on the pole and fended off an early challenge from Ben Smith of Harrisburg to earn his sixth win of the season. Smith finished second with Wayne Harrington of China Grove third.

Racing resumes Saturday night as the NASCAR late model stocks will headline with a 100-lap feature. Limited late models, mini stocks, pure stocks and hornets will be joined by the sleek thunder roadsters.
