TRAVIS SHARPE SCORES FOURTH CONCORD WIN

CONCORD, N.C. (June 5, 2005) -- Travis Sharpe of Swansea, S.C. raced to his fourth win of the season Saturday night in the 100-lap NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock feature at Concord Motorsport Park.

Other winners were: Randy McAnulty of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kyle Beattie of Concord in the 35-lap INEX/600 Racing thunder roadster feature; David Pennell of China Grove in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature; Steve Irvin of Concord in the 20-lap pure stock feature; and Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord in the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing hornets feature.

Terry Brooks Jr. of Concord blasted from his second-starting spot into the lead at the start of the late model stock feature and set the pace for the first 60 laps. On lap 61 Billy Lemmons of Salisbury took the top spot and paced the field for another 20 laps.

Bo Foust of Charlotte started fifth and took his turn at the point from lap 81 to lap 92 when Sharpe would get the advantage. He raced to the win by less than a second over Buster Bennet of Monroe who made a late-race charge. Lemmons, Brooks and Foust completed the top five.

McAunulty started fourth in the limited late model feature and raced to his first feature win in the division. The win was his fifth-career victory at the speedway.

Brian Pedrick of Denver finished second with point leader Terry Hoggard of Concord third. Jimmy Voyles of China Grove earned a fourth-place finish and James Griggs of Ruby, S.C. finished fifth.

Beattie started fifth in the thunder roadster feature and rolled to his second consecutive victory in the division. D.J. Krentz of Kannapolis finishes second while Drew Calhoun of Southern Pines was third. Adam Welch of Concord and Terry Horak of Charlotte completed the top five.

Pennell, who is eighth on the speedway's all-time win list, scored his first victory of the season in the mini stock feature. It was his 48th career win at the speedway. Clint Mills of Marshville finished second with Eric Harrington of Kannapolis third. Doug Lamp of Troutman and Linda Cunningham of Concord rounded out the top five.

Irvin raced to his second-consecutive win, and third of the season, in the pure stock feature. Chad Allmon and Brian Love of Mt. Pleasant finished second and third. David Miller of Stanfield and Steve Ackerly of Monroe finished fourth and fifth.

Measmer Jr. continued his dominance of the hornets division winning his sixth feature of the season. Ben Smith of Harrisburg was second with China Grove's Wayne Harrington third.

Saturday night is Stanly County night at the races with residents admitted free of charge with proper identification. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series headlines on the track with a 100-lap feature for the late model stock drivers. The Virginia mini cup cars also join the schedule.
