BO FOUST GETS SECOND CONCORD WIN OF SEASON
CONCORD, N.C. – Harrisburg’s Bo Foust scored an impressive victory
Saturday on Golden Gait Trailers night at Concord Motorsport Park. It was his second
win of the season.
Other winners were: Mike Terry of Charlotte in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson’s
Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Steve Irvin of Concord in the
25-lap Golden Gait Trailers pure stock feature; and Nikki Long of Concord in
the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing fast and furious fours feature.
Foust was strong all evening Saturday being the fastest car in qualifying,
and lucky enough to draw the pole position for the feature. At the drop of the
green he was able to pull out a comfortable margin on the field.
Point leader Shane Brafford of Concord and Claude Kelly of Pine Ridge, S.C.
waged a fierce battle for the second position, while Foust continued to run
away with the feature. In the end, Foust scored his second victory of the
season and sixth-career win at the speedway.
Brafford won the battle for second with Kelly third. Terry Brooks Jr. of
Concord was fourth and last weeks winner, Andrew Thomas of Monroe, was fifth.
Terry took the lead at the start of the limited late model feature and held
the point until lap 25 when defending champion Terry Hoggard of Concord moved
past. Three-time winner Brian Conforth was moving forward and late in the
race put the challenge to Hoggard.
On lap 33 the cars made contact multiple times and when the banging was over
Conforth was nose-first in the outside wall on the front straightaway.
Hoggard was penalized for the accident, giving the lead back to Terry.
Terry fended off a late-race challenge from Ben Hinson of Kannapolis to score
his first win of the year. Jeff Melton of Monroe was third, Kenny Brooks of
Concord fourth and Kenneth Cook, also of Concord, completed the top five.
Irvan had easy work in the pure stock feature leading every lap for the
flag-to-flag win, his third of the season. Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant was
second with Alton Boyd of Kannapolis third. David Miller of Stanfield and Alvin
Thomas of Monroe rounded out the top five in a race that went caution-free.
Long made her first fast and furious fours start of the season count with a
win after leading every lap. It was a tremendous struggle for her as she had
to with constant pressure from Brad Deal of Mt. Pleasant and Brad Ballard of
Kannapolis for the win. It was her career-first win at the speedway, with
Deal and Ballard second and third.
Great racing action returns Saturday night as Dodge presents a complete
program of late model stocks, limited late models, pure stocks, fast and furious
fours, and the thunder roadsters.
