ARIC ALMIROLA GETS CAREER FIRST CONCORD WIN

CONCORD, N.C. (June 20, 2005) - Aric Almirola of Charlotte made his first Concord Motorsport Park start count Saturday night as he won the 100-lap NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock feature. The Tampa native drives for Joe Gibbs Racing as part of a diversity initiative established a few years back between Gibbs and former NFL star the late Reggie White.

Other winners were: Jeff Melton of Monroe in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kenny Brooks of Concord in the Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature and Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord who
won both the pure stock and Speedway Plumbing hornets features.

Billy Lemmons of Salisbury led the first two circuits of the late model stock feature before giving up the top spot to 2003 track champion Shaun Mangum of Monroe who started fourth. As Mangum set the pace, Almirola was patiently working forward from his 10th-starting spot.

On lap 42 Almirola was able to wrestle away the point from Mangum and he raced to the victory. Point leader Travis Sharpe of Swansea, S.C. finished second with Mangum third. Bob Saville of New London was fourth and Andrew Thomas of Monroe completed the top five.

Melton started 12th in the 21-car field for the limited late model division and worked his way forward to the lead spot. He raced to his third win of the season and 26th career triumph at the speedway.

Jay Payne of Thomasville finished second with Concord's Kenneth Cook third. David Kepley and Randy McAnulty, also both of Concord, completed the top five.

Brooks started third and raced to his fifth win of the season, and second consecutive, in the mini stock division. David Pennell of China Grove finished second with Marshville's Clint Mills third. Roy Maness of Star was fourth and Doug Lamp of Troutman fifth.

Measmer Jr. made his career first start in the pure stock division and turned it to victory. He outdistanced Steve Irvin of Concord enroute to the win. Mt. Pleasant drivers Chad Allmon and Brian Love finished third and fourth with Alvin Thomas of Monroe returning to the driver's seat with a fifth-place finish.

Measmer Jr. continued his winning ways in the hornets division with his eighth win of the season. Ben Smith of Harrisburg was second and Brandon Cooper of Concord third.

Racing resumes Saturday night with a complete program of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. The late model stocks will headline with a 100-lap feature, sharing the card with the limited late models, mini stocks, pure stocks and hornets.

All eyes will be focused on the speedway Monday, July 4th when Speedway Plumbing presents round four of the Future Cellular Big-10 Series. The super late models return that night with a 125-lap feature, along with limited late models, mini stocks, and pure stocks. Plus, the night will be capped off with a huge fireworks display, the largest in the history of the speedway.

Concord Motorsport Park is located on highway 601 south of Concord and north of Midland. Further information is available by calling (704) 782-4221 or at www.concordmotorsportpark.com.
