TERRY BROOKS JR. NABS FIRST NASCAR LATE MODEL STOCK WIN
Brother Kenny Wins in Mini Stock Feature
CONCORD, N.C. (June 27, 2005) - Terry Brooks Jr. of Concord scored his
career-first NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock feature win Saturday night in the
100-lap feature at Concord Motorsport Park.
Other winners were: Jeff Melton of Monroe in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's
Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kenny Brooks (Terry Jr.'s
brother) in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature; Brian Love of Mt.
Pleasant in the 20-lap Speedway Plumbing pure stock feature; and Bobby
Measmer Jr. of Concord in the Speedway Plumbing hornets feature.
Justin Hill of Concord jumped from the second-starting spot to the lead
at the start of the late model stock feature and set the pace for the first
eight laps. Billy Lemmons of Salisbury raced into the top spot on lap nine, but
his lead was short-lived as Brooks took the lead on lap 10.
Brooks led the final 90 circuits to score the win. While it was his 34th
career-win at the speedway, it was his first since moving up to the late model
stock division this season. Last year, he was the limited late model track
champion and prior to that scored championships in other divisions.
Roger Lee Newton of Concord rallied from 15th starting spot to finish
second. Linny White of Concord was third. Lemmons held on for fourth with Kyle
Hendershot of Fairfax, Va. making his first Concord visit a fifth-place finish.
Melton started fourth in the limited late model feature and rolled to his
fourth win of the year. It was his 27th career triumph at the speedway.
Daryle Callahan of Monroe finished second with Concord's Randy McAnulty third.
Jimmy Voyles of China Grove was fourth and Mark Brooks (cousin of Terry Jr. and
Kenny) of Concord fifth.
Kenny Brooks, the younger brother of Terry Jr., started fifth and earned
his sixth win of the season and third-consecutive in the mini stock feature.
Clint Mills of Marshville was second with David Pennell of China Grove third.
Curtis Clark of Monroe and Doug Lamp of Troutman completed the top five.
Love extended his point lead with the win in the pure stock feature over
Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord. Alvin Thomas of Monroe was third, Steve Irvin of
Concord fourth and Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant was fifth.
Measmer Jr. won the hornets feature.
