BO FOUST RETURNS TO CONCORD VICTORY LANE

CONCORD, N.C. – Harrisburg’s Bo Foust returned to Concord Motorsport Park Saturday night in grand fashion winning the NASCAR Coca-Cola late model stock feature. The win was especially satisfying for Foust who was disqualified on July 16th for an illegal engine; his car passed a complete inspection on Saturday.

Other winners were: Brian Conforth of Concord in the 50-lap Tommy Johnson’s Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers pure stock feature; and Brad Deal of Mt. Pleasant in the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing fast and furious fours feature.

Salisbury’s Billy Lemmons started second and paced the first eight laps of the late model stock headliner. Foust moved past on lap nine taking command of the race. Point leader Shane Brafford of Concord closed in on the leader but the race was slowed on lap 36 when light rain started to fall. The field rolled around the track until heavy rains put an end to the night
after 51 laps were completed. Foust was the winner over Brafford. Lemmons finished third with Andrew Thomas of Monroe fourth. Bryan “Dude” Thomas of Monroe rounded out the top 10.

Concord’s Kenneth Cook started second and took the early lead in the limited late model feature. On lap six Mike Terry of Charlotte moved inside Cook and to the point. Meanwhile, Conforth was moving forward from his sixth starting spot and by lap nine was in second. Conforth closed the distance on Terry and moved past on lap 14 to the lead. From that point, he held off a steady challenge from defending champion Terry Hoggard of Concord to score the win. Jeff Melton of Concord charged from ninth to finish second with Hoggard third. Terry finished fourth with Ben Hinson of Kannapolis fifth.

Allmon made it look easy in the pure stock feature with a flag-to-flag victory, his second of the season. After an early challenge from point leader Steve Irvin of Concord, Allmon put distance on the field cruising to the win. Ivrin finished second with Steve Ackerly of Monroe third. Charles Hutto of Monroe was fourth with David Miller of Stanfield fifth.

Deal drove his car “The Frog” to the win in the fast and furious fours feature. He led the entire distance after starting on the pole position. Jeff Smith of Stanfield finished second with Jake Simpson of Albemarle third.

Racing returns Saturday night with Sun Trust Bank night for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. The Coca Cola late model stocks will be in the spotlight with a 100-lap feature. Also, the kid’s pedal-car grand-prix will be held on the speedway.
