QUERY AND FOUST WIN AT CONCORD...AGAIN!

CONCORD, N.C. - Freddie Query of Mooresville and Bo Foust of Charlotte each earned third wins of the season Saturday night on Craftsman night at the races at Concord Motorsport Park. Query's victory was in the 125-lap Future Cellular Big-10 Series super late model feature while Foust won the 50-lap NASCAR Coca-Cola late model stock contest.

Other winners were: Kenneth Cook of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kenny Brooks of Concord in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature; Brandon Ward of Winston-Salem in the 25-lap Virginia mini cup feature; and Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord in both the 20-lap Speedway Plumbing pure stock and the 15-lap fast and furious 4s.

A.J. Ganino of Lebanon, Ohio started on the pole and led the first four laps of the super late model feature before Concord's Preston Peltier moved inside in turn one and into the lead. Query had to start seventh after a sub-par qualifying run earlier in the night but quickly moved to second by lap five.

Peltier looked strong, but on lap 26 he tangled with a lapped car and spun out loosing a couple of spots and handing the lead to Query. From there, the defending champion led the distance to score his 86th career victory.

Peltier rallied back for a second-place finish with Jeremy Pate of Pensacola, Fla. third. Ted Musgrave Jr. of Mooresville earned a fourth-place finish. Point leader Dennis Schoenfeld of Concord overcame heavy contact with the wall on a 14th-place qualifying effort with a solid fifth-place finish.

Point leader Travis Sharpe of Swansea, S.C. started on the pole in the late model stock feature and took the lead at the drop of the green flag. He led until a restart on lap 37 when Foust moved inside entering turn one and into the top spot. He raced to his third win of the season and third in the last four races.

Sharpe finished second with Concord drivers Justin Hill, Ross Furr and Roger Lee Newton completing the top five.

Wayne Callahan of Monroe jumped into the early lead in the limited late model feature and fended off a tremendous challenge from David Kepley of Concord and Jeff Melton of Monroe. On lap 13 a lapped car spun directly in front of
the leaders and when the crunch was completed Kepley, Melton, and Reggie Carroll of Concord -- who was fourth -- had wrecked race cars.

Callahan resumed the lead with Cook in pursuit. After numerous attempts, Cook moved to the point on lap 25 and scored his second win of the season. Callahan finished second with Terry Hoggard of Concord third. Point leader Jimmy Voyles of China Grove and Randy McAnulty of Concord completed the top five.

Brooks started sixth in the mini stock feature and by lap three was second with his sights set on David Pennell of China Grove who had opened a straight-away advantage. Methodically, Brooks closed in to initially challenge on lap 16 and finally move to the top spot on lap 23.

He scored his eighth win of the season in 15 races. Pennell was second with Clint Mills of Marshville third. Jamie Long of Monroe was fourth and Michael Tucker of Lexington finished fifth.

Ward started on the pole and led flag-to-flag in the Virginia mini cup feature. It was his 3rd Concord win of the season with Jerry Purdue finishing second. Kevin Berkstresser was third with Matt Wade and Jack Wines completing the top five.

Measmer Jr. started sixth in the pure stock feature and wasted little time taking the lead on lap three. He scored his third win in the division over point leader Brian Love of Mt. Pleasant. Chad Allmon, also of Mt. Pleasant, was third, Steve Irvin of Concord finished fourth and Steve Ackerly of Monroe was fifth.

In the debut of the fast and furious 4s, Measmer Jr. started third and made a quick break at the drop of the green. He had the lead by the time the field exited turn two and rolled to a comfortable victory.

Measmer now has 15 wins at the track this season in three divisions - hornets (11), pure stocks (three) and now the fast and furious 4s. Ben Smith of Harrisburg finished second with Wayne Harrington of Kannapolis third.

Racing resumes Saturday night with a complete program for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. It will be Union County night at the races with county residents admitted free with proper identification. The Coca-Cola late model stock drivers will headline with a 100-lap feature. Also, the thunder roadsters will return to action.
